Band This Week: March 2-7, Show Week #2, Hawaii Update, Nice Work Matinee

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to our cast, crew, and band for “Nice Work If You Can Get It!” It is an absolutely outstanding show and I am so proud of your work! We are considering adding a matinee performance on Saturday – more details to follow. Please note our full rehearsal schedule is back in action this week!

A Hawaii trip update is below! Please note the change to our pre-trip meeting. 

An Edmonton trip update is coming tomorrow.

1.) Band Classes in A & B Block

Monday – Band 10 in A Block.

Tuesday – Band 9 in A Block. Band 11/12 in B Block.

Wednesday – Band 10 in A Block.

Thursday – Band 9 in A Block. Band 11/12 in B Block.

Friday – Band 10 in A Block.

2.) Morning, Lunch, After School Rehearsals

MondayBlue Band Rehearsal at 7:30am. Junior Tour Band Rehearsal at Lunch. “NICE WORK” CAST/CREW/BAND MEETING AFTER SCHOOL in the theater (to discuss adding a matinee performance on Saturday March 7th). 

Tuesday – Jr. Jazz Band at 7:15am. Intermediate Jazz Band at Lunch. No after school rehearsal.

Wednesday – Sr. Jazz Band Rehearsal at 7:15am. Junior Jazz Band at Lunch. Pit Orchestra Mid-Run Rehearsal (3:20pm – 6:30pm)

Thursday – Intermediate Jazz Band at 7:15am. Senior Jazz Band at Lunch. “Nice Work” Performance #4 (6pm call time, 7:30pm start)

Friday – Junior Tour Band Rehearsal at 7:15am. Music Council Meeting at Lunch. “Nice Work” Performance #5 (6pm call time, 7:30pm start)

Saturday –  TENTATIVE: Additional “NICE WORK” MATINEE PERFORMANCE (12pm call time, 1pm start). “Nice Work” Performance #6 (6pm call time, 7:30pm start)

Sunday – Nothing. Nadda. ZERO. Absolutely not a thing.

 

3.) Pit Orchestra Reminders/Update

Remaining Rehearsals: These rehearsals and performances are MANDATORY. The show runs for six evening performances. The call time for evening performances is 6:00pm – be seated in the pit, ready to tune and run any numbers that are required. All evening performances start at 7:30pm

ADDITIONAL MATINEE PERFORMANCE: MS. KERR AND I HAVE BEEN DISCUSSING ADDING A MATINEE PERFORMANCE ON SATURDAY. THIS WOULD MEAN TWO SHOWS ON SATURDAY. PLEASE ATTEND A MEETING AFTER SCHOOL ON MONDAY TO DISCUSS.

MON. MARCH 2 – “NICE WORK” CAST/CREW/BAND MEETING AFTER SCHOOL

Wed. March 4 – Mid-Run Rehearsal (3:25pm – 6:30pm)

Thurs. March 5 – Performance #4 & Alumni Night (6pm call time, 7:30pm start)

Fri. March 6 – Performance #5 (6pm call time, 7:30pm start)

SAT. MARCH 7 – TENTATIVE: Additional “NICE WORK” MATINEE PERFORMANCE (12pm call time, 1pm start)

Sat. March 7 – Performance #6 (6pm call time, 7:30pm start) Closing night party to follow (10pm to 12am): Techies/Bandies revenge, pizza, etc! 🙂

Notes:

Musical Theatre T-Shirts: Shirts are in! Please bring in your $20.

Pit Band Uniform: All black shirt, pants and shoes (Please NO sweat-pants, t-shirts with logos, etc) AND fun socks! These items are all provided by students. Please let me know if you have a financial situation that is prohibitive.

Health/Attendance: Please take care of yourselves over the next two weeks. Get as much rest as possible, eat well, and stay hydrated. You are expected to attend all of your classes. If you need to miss a class, PLEASE contact your teacher regarding what you missed.

 

4.) Hawaii Tour Update/Parent Meeting

As discussed with students last Monday please note that the parent pre-trip meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30pm in the Band Room.

Both parents are required to be at this meeting. A lawyer will be present who will notarize permission to travel forms for your student (please bring photo ID). these documents are legally required for me to take your student across the border.

If parents have separated – both parents will need to attend and sign. If a parent lives out of town, a letter is still needed (I can email to you and you would have to have it notarized and faxed/emailed back to me.). A copy of any custody order is required. If a parent is deceased, a copy of the death certificate is required

If you are unable to attend, it will be your responsibility and cost to have the travel forms notarized.  This meeting will also go over final trip information for parents.
