Band This Week: May 21 – 25

Hi Everyone!

BRAVO! I cannot adequately put in to words how proud I am of our team – of our family. You played with an incredible sound (supported TONE, full, and balanced), ranks and files were exceptionally straight, and your movements? PRECISE – YES!!! Congratulations, folks! 🙂 Your performance comes second only to the grace and integrity that you showed when cheering on the Naden Band and the Spectrum Community School Band – THAT was incredibly classy and had you ranked as winners in my mind well before the judges stand. Keep doing what you do. You are incredible human beings. 🙂

Congratulations on winning 1st Place Canadian Marching Band, and 1st Place Canadian Drill Team today (thank you Shelby, Shiho, and Kay for your leadership in the colour party)! Congratulations to Mr. Jolliffe and Spectrum for their 2nd Place finish – the group looked and sounded great! Drumline – well done, everyone – excellent balance, and dynamics!  A big thank you to all of the PARENTS that helped in the marshalling area with hair and uniforms, along the route with water, and at the end of the parade at our hydration/snack station! There were DOZENS of parents involved in all aspects of the day – from 7:00am to 8pm – Your support does not go unnoticed and is appreciated by all of us!

Thank you to Music Council (especially Ross D.) for organizing another post-parade Scavenger Hunt! The teams looked awesome! Winners will be announced soon. A HUGE thank you to Ann-Marie Gilbert and Murray Leslie for hosting an AWESOME BBQ in their home tonight and letting all of us invade on a Monday night. 🙂

… this is of course ON TOP of a KILLER WEEK filled with an awesome Sr. Jazz Band, Drumline, and Vocal Jazz performance for incoming grade 8s on Thursday, the very first REYNOLDS PROMPOSAL FEAT. THE MARCHING BAND (How cool is that!!), and a great Grad Choir/Grad Band rehearsal with the Grad 2019 class.

This is why I love my “job.” 🙂

Celebrate and be proud of your achievements but remember we have lots more on the horizon. If you are in choir and strings – please check Ms. Kerr’s blog and note when her rehearsals are! The program is vibrant and busy right now. Please honour all of your commitments and be prepared for band, choir, and strings rehearsals. Yes, that means the dreaded “P-Word” still… PRACTICE. 🙂
