Thank you to everyone that came out to support our first Reynolds/Cedar Hill joint fundraiser! The “May The 4th Be With You” dance was a lot of fun and it was great to have Bobby Dazzler in the house performing! Thank you to all of the parent on the organizing committee that made this so successful.
Twenty Reynolds Drumline members participated in a wonderful clinic with Michael Beauclerc on Thursday afternoon. They learned some cool new material that will be performed soon! Thanks, team!
Have a good week! It’s a busy one – please get lots of sleep and be in rehearsals. See me if you need anything or need clarification.

3.) Marching Band
As we are two weeks away from the Victoria Day Parade I will be adding more rehearsals to our schedule. Attendance at rehearsals is extremely important – now more than ever. An absence effects EVERYBODY else in you rank and file in addition to leaving musical “gaps” in a musical selection. Physically, the additional rehearsals help condition your body for performance in a parade – marching band is a physical activity. Additionally, your audience is made up of at least 40,000 people lining Douglas Street. Please do not miss rehearsals this week or next week.
Rehearsals this week: Wednesday (if in Strings – go to Marching Band), Thursday (if in Chamber Choir – go to chamber choir), Friday.
Rehearsals next week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (ending with our traditional “hallway parade” including all band members at the start of B Block. You will be excused from the first 20 minutes of B that day). I have spoken to Ms. Kerr – if you are in strings and the choirs, your priority is to be attendance at marching band rehearsals all week.
Weekend Rehearsal: Sunday, May 19th 7:00pm at Mayfair Mall (Parking lot by The Bay)
PARADE DAY is Victoria Day – Monday, May 20th: Call time is 7:15am OR EARLIER at Mayfair Mall (Specific Marshalling Area TBA) in full uniform. The parade starts at 9:00am (leaving from Mayfair Mall, traveling down Douglas Street).
A reminder that all marching band members must have clean, pressed and HEMMED band pants on Parade Day. Please ensure that your students’ pants are ready. Additionally all band and colour party members must have a white MAN’s dress shirt (knit shirts, polo shirts, and blouse-style dress shirts are NOT acceptable. Walmart has lots of sizes to choose from! Students with the wrong shirt, missing ties, pant issues, etc. will NOT be permitted to march on parade day. Please ensure your uniform is ready to go.
Thank you to Cheryl McKinnon and our Colour Party Captains (Shelby, Shiho, and Kay) for coming in to size students for CP uniforms.
Blazers will be issued to Grade 9 and 10 students during band classes this week. Thank you, Cheryl!
4.) Travel Options
Travel options and pricing estimates for our 2020 spring Band and Choir Tours were handed out to students in band and choir classes last week. Additionally, changes have been made to how payments for band trips will be collected.
Please ask your student for these documents. There are 2 options for the junior tour and 4 options for the senior tour. Parents can assist in the initial planning stages of these tours by indicating the trip that they would prefer, signing the document and submitting it to the blue box in the band room. Majority wins!
Forms are due Friday.
