Band This Week: Sept. 24-28, First Performances, Uniform Distribution, C4C Bottle Drive

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your help last week if you attended Camp Imadene! All of our concert bands and jazz bands will be up and running this week and music folders are ready to go home. Thanks to my TAs for all of their help with sorting music after our sight-reading sessions.

We now set our sites on our first performances of the year (an extensive list of performances, gigs, concerts, barn-raisings, barn-lowerings, and other performance opportunities will be available on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you for your patience!): 

Friday, Sept 28 – Drumline performs at “Days of Thunder” (UVIC’s CARSA Facility. 5:30pm Call Time. Performance details TBA. Full uniform.)

Friday, Oct. 5 – Drumline performs for the Tour de Rock Riders’ Arrival at Reynolds (Reynolds Gym. Call Time TBA – during classes. Full uniform.)

Friday, Oct. 5 – Drumline performs at the Canadian Cancer Society Tour de Rock Finale (Centennial Square, downtown. 4:30pm Call Time. Full uniform.)

Sunday, Oct 28 – Senior Jazz Band and Drumline perform at “Wicked Victoria” (The Bay Centre, downtown. Times: between 12pm-5pm. Specific times TBA. We will be wearing Halloween Costumes! 😉 )

Our first full Band Concert (All concert bands and all jazz bands) is our annual “Blow Out The Dust” fall concert. Please note the change in date: November 6 (6pm Call Time, 7pm Start).

 

1.) Band Classes in A & B Block

Monday – Band 9 in A Block.

Tuesday – Band 10 in A Block. Band 11/12 in B Block.

Wednesday – Band 9 in A Block.

Thursday – Band 10 in A Block. Band 11/12 in B Block.

Friday – Band 10 in A Block. Band 11/12 in B Block.

Band 9 and Band 10 Practice Cards – Continue recording for Week #2. 

 

2.) Morning, Lunch, After School Rehearsals

MondayFIRST Blue Band Rehearsal (Grade 11s, 12s, invited 10s) & Breakfast at 7:15am. Extra help available at Lunch. Extra help available after school 3:15pm – 4:00pm. 

Tuesday –  Junior Jazz Band at 7:15am. Intermediate Jazz Band at Lunch. Jazz Combo rehearsals 3:15pm – 4:45pm.

Wednesday – Senior Jazz Band at 7:15am. Junior Jazz Band at Lunch. Drumline rehearsal 2:10pm – 3:40pm (Note: early dismissal due to Collaboration Block).

Thursday – Intermediate Jazz Band at 7:15am. Senior Jazz Band at Lunch. Extra help available after school 3:15pm – 4:45pm.

FridayFIRST Green Band Rehearsal (Grade 9s and 10s combined) & Breakfast at 7:15am. Music Council Meeting at Lunch. Drumline rehearsal after school 1:30pm – 3:00pm. 

 

3.) Uniform Distribution on Friday and Saturday

There is lots to know. Please read carefully. 🙂 Thank you to all of the RMPA and parent/student volunteers that are going to help out this weekend! I am SUPER excited for our new Senior Jazz Band  uniforms – we have some brilliant new vests for you! 

Our uniform sizing and distribution opportunities are this Friday (4pm – 6pm) and Saturday (9am – 3:30pm) in the Band Room. Grade 9s, Students NEW to Reynolds, Returning Grade 11s, Senior Jazz Band, please attend one of these sessions.

Rental Forms: You do not need to print a Uniform Rental Agreement before attending a uniform sizing day. Our uniform team will assist you with this on Friday and Saturday. 

Rental Fees & Damage Deposits: Please bring a cheque as there is a 2 year damage deposit requirements and cash or a cheque for any rental fees. Please make cheques payable to “Reynolds Secondary School.” 

Please note: No student will be denied a uniform due to financial hardship. Please let me know if you have a financial situation that prohibits you from renting your uniform or purchasing your uniform pieces. Confidentiality is assured.

4.) Cops 4 Cancer Bottle Drive

The Reynolds Music program annual Cops 4 Cancer Bottle Drive is on Saturday, September 29th and we have a number of shifts that still need to be filled! 

Please visit: https://www.volunteersignup.org/MAPAD to sign up for a shift (parent and student volunteers needed).

Last year we raised nearly $2000 – let’s try to beat that total this year! Donations and drop-offs are encouraged! If you need to arrange a pick-up, please let me know (jdavis@sd61.bc.ca)!
