Choir/String/Musical Theatre Updates January 27-Feb 2

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a restful weekend after a long exam week, term 2 is all wrapped up, good luck in your new classes! WE ARE BACK TO BUSINESS AS USUAL THIS WEEK, which means ALL early morning rehearsals are back on as we are diving into our new music and preparing for our upcoming performances!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT TO OUR SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER FOR OUR MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM!!  We had an outstanding number of wonderful items and a great turn out from parents, teachers and people from around the community. Thank you to our auction team Linda, Yvonne, Cheryl, Laura and Sherrie you are all superstars and I so appreciate all of your help to make this event so successful Thank you to the Monkey Tree for being such outstanding hosts and thank you to our students for getting out there and getting items for our auction, well done! We made just over $5000 which is the most we have made since my time at Reynolds, thank you, thank you, thank you!! I hope everyone had a fun night out and went home with some great items. This was truly an outstanding evening for our program!

Nice Work If You Can Get It tickets ARE AVAILABLE NOW from Ms. Kerr or the Reynolds Office. $10 for students and $12 for everyone else! Don’t miss this year’s show. Cheques can be made out to Reynolds Secondary. Thank you to music parent Andrea de Lange for her work on our posters and tickets, you rock!

February 1st Vocal Jazz Festival at Oak Bay with Soundsation. This is an all day event again from 9:15AM-9PM, students should bring a lunch, water and snacks and students will be provided with dinner if they choose one of the options on the hand out ($7 for sushi or pizza) HAVE YOUR MONEY IN THIS WEEK TO MS. KERR. Info is located here: Vocal Jazz Festival 2019 Students will receive a full clinic with Soundsation and have the opportunity to choose a specialized clinic of their choice with students from around Victoria. We did this last year and it was an incredible experience for our students. PLEASE hand in you forms this week and Dinner payment, please note the start time change. We have an earlier clinic to accommodate a student conflict.
February 22, Choral Collaboration Event at Belmont Secondary School. This is an event for ALL Choir students, where they learn outstanding music and sing with their peers around Victoria. They will work with Clinicians BRIAN TATE AND ERICA PHARE-BERG and have a full morning of singing and fun! I will have info out to you to take home this week!
Family Day February 17 DRESS Rehearsal for Musical Theatre from 12-6:00 (with possibility of going longer)

Here is you schedule for this week:

Monday, January 27

11:17-12:12 Vocal Jazz in the VJ Annex on mics with FULL RHYTHM SECTION, let’s run our festival music and clean up some spots, please bring in your forms for the Vocal Jazz Festival this week along with dinner money link is above if you forgot the form.

3:25-5:30 Musical Theatre, SITZPROBE sing through WITH THE PIT BAND IN THE THEATRE. Be there right after school and help set up. Have it as memorized and prepared as possible…have your music with you just in case I ask you to look at it. I will take notes, I will be listening and I will be marking:) Soloists and duet numbers from Act 2, you may use your music.

Tuesday, January 28:

 7:15- 8:20 Junior Choir in the Choir Annex. We will be learning new music and working towards our performance at Choral Collaboration at Belmont on February 22.

11:17-12:12 Vocal Jazz with Full Rhythm Section in the VJ Annex. BRING YOUR FORMS AND MONEY FOR VJ FESTIVAL, IT IS THIS SATURDAY!!

3:25-4:45 Senior Choir in the Choir Annex, we will be working on our new music and preparing for Choral Collaboration on Feb. 22.

Wednesday, January 29:

7:15-8:20 Strings in the Theatre. Please be on time, remember to bring you instruments and let’s get to work on your new music!

2:00-3:00 Junior Choir in the Choir Annex, this is an early release day for Collaboration so we will rehearse for an hour after school to work on our new music!

2-4:00 Any available CREW please come and help with painting and building of set.

Thursday, January 30:

7:15-8:20 Senior Choir in the Choir Annex. Let’s work on our new music and prepare for Choral Collaboration!

11:17-12:12 Strings in the Theatre, be on time and let’s rehearse some new music!

3:25-5:30 Musical Theatre  Kanika will be finishing Choreography with Nadia and Arlo for S’Wonderful and starting choreography with Arlo, Sam and Levi for Do, Do, Do. I will be doing some scene work finishing blocking with everyone in Act 2 Scene 4 – FULL CAST IS IN THIS SCENE (Except Nadia). I would like to do blocking for Blah, Blah Blah with Levi and Maya and Looking for a Boy with Sam and Alexis. PIT BAND CALLS for ALL REPRISES, please practice these before Thursday!

Friday, January 31:

Crew, Painting of the set and prop building and painting needs to get done this week. Lots to do, all hands on deck!

Saturday, February 1:

Vocal Jazz Festival at Oak Bay, ALL DAY at OAK BAY, PLEASE BE THERE BY 9:15AM with a CONCERT at 7PM, PLEASE COME OUT AND SUPPORT THESE OUTSTANDING MUSICIANS, this is open to any one to come and watch, if you love Jazz music come on out, admission by donation!

Sunday, February 2:

1-3:30 Musical Theatre, please come through theatre side door and DO NOT open any other door in the school. finish any blocking and run of Act 2 with everyone. Students can help with painting/set building and costumes when there are any breaks. Stay tuned for more specific calls as we get through he week.
