Choir/String Musical Updates Nov 18-22

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekend and hopefully putting in some practice times for your ensembles this week. Only 4 weeks left until we are back performing for our Winter Concerts on December 17 and 18 and there is a lot to do, keep attending, working hard and putting in practice time. CHOIR STUDENTS, please get your payments in for your Choir Folders and Choir tie/Scarf, I will have an updated sheet for you to look at on Tuesday.

Thank you to those volunteering for Hillside Night of Lights Coatcheck today, you are so appreciated! And a big thanks to students that sold tickets for that event, if you haven’t handed in your money or extra tickets please bring them in tomorrow to have it deposited and added to your students accounts.

Events coming up:

VOS production of Mamma Mia at the McPherson Playhouse on Thursday, November 21. For those students that ordered and paid for tickets, we are meeting outside the McPherson at 7pm where I will give you your ticket. Show starts at 8pm and pick up around 10:30 or 10:45pm. You must find your own transportation to and from this event.

November 30 CHOIR RETREAT, please click on the attached form for more information and permission forms to attend our Choir Retreat, this event will be free for students : ChoirRetreat2019 This retreat will involve fun activities to have fun with friends and make new friends as well as a Choral clinic (details on that still have to be confirmed with Elizabeth, I will update when I know more). ALL CHOIR students are invited to participate, both Junior and Senior students. It is going to be so much fun, and we will have a big potluck dinner (bring something to share) and celebrate all the great choral music happening at Reynolds so far this year!

December 6 VOCAL JAZZ RETREAT with Fifth Street- Senior Vocal Jazz students will be having a clinic/performance experience with an outstanding local a cappella group, Fifth Street! They will work on two tunes, have a beatboxing session and have bonding and fun activity time as a group, all for the low price of $25, please have payment in by next Monday, November 25. Monday November 18

11:17-12:12 Vocal Jazz -Please have a listen to your practice tracks and come PREPARED. Here is a link to practice tracks:

3:25-5:00 Musical Theatre, Costume Day!! You will have your costume on for Sweet and Lowdown as indicated by our costume team. You were given a hand out for costumes and it is also on our Facebook page, come prepared and knowing what you need. If you need help please ask our costume team and we will help you out. Tomorrow is about knowing what we are still missing and fixing it. We will run that number up front with costumes. Everyone will do review on music for Fascinating Rhythm and Demon Rum. Grace F. please have Delicious vocally ready to run with Tea or myself tomorrow. Sam and Alexis, you will be in the theatre with Jennifer Sanders 3:45-5:00 working on your dance number for By Strauss- Sam I will have tap shoes for you, hopefully they fit OK:)

Tuesday November 19

7:15-8:20am Junior Choir in Annex C, Please ensure you are on time and prepared. Take a look at solos and come prepared to try them out if you are interested!

11:17-12:12 Senior Vocal Jazz in Annex C. Please be on time and be prepared, I will be putting you on the sound system, so no hiding:) USE THOSE PRACTICE TRACKS:)

3:25-4:45pm Senior Choir in Annex C, Please be on time and be ready to work after school, we have a lot to still work on and get memorized for the concert in December:)

Wednesday November 20

7:15-8:20am Strings in the Theatre. Please be on time, get tuned and be prepared with notes practiced especially for Steampunk and Journey of the Magi.

3:25-4:45 Junior Choir, in Annex C. Please take home info for the Choir Retreat and give to a parent or guardian. We will be working on our new song and listening to soloists for Underneath the Tree.

Thursday November 21

7:15-8:20am Senior Choir, please be ON TIME and ready to sing, we have a lot of music to still work on, so let’s keep this train moving- good improvement on Thursday morning! Let’s have fun and make great music!

11:17-12:12 Strings in the THEATREplease be on time and ready to play. Bring your lunch and let’s get some playing done!

3:25-5:00 Musical Theatreeveryone needs to be in attendance and we will do some review and move on in choreo for Fascinating Rhythm. I will take some soloists and work on some Act 1 music – Grace, Nadia, Sam, Arlo, Alexis please take a listen to your Act 1 solos. Musical Crew students – Shelby, Alex, Sydney, Ivy and Anita can you all please work on constructing and painting the Speakeasy shack we spoke about on Friday. I will have all the foam pieces for you! Work together and get as much done as you can!

7:00pm MAMMA MIA at the McPherson Playhouse. For those students who ordered a ticket through mr to see the preview show of Mamma Mia, it’s time to go! I will meet you just outside the McPherson Theatre and will give you your ticket at 7pm. The show starts at 8pm and I would plan on being picked up at 10:30pm outside of the theatre. You must arrange your own transportation to and from the theatre, ask for help if you can’t find a ride.

Friday Nov 22 – Pro D Day, no school PLEASE PRACTICE!

Let’s have a great week of rehearsals and music making. Take care of yourselves and one another, try to get some sleep this weekend, cold and flu is making it’s way through our school. Wash your hands, don’t share water bottles and please have your parents email us if you are too ill to be at school.
