Choir/String Updates for April 23-27

Choir/String Updates for April 23-27

Hello all!! Happy Easter long weekend!

Thank you again to all of the students that went on our Calgary Tour last week! We had a lot of fun and had some very memorable and meaningful performances. Thanks especially to Bobbi, Marilyn and Cheryl for chaperoning and helping us take care of all of our students. We had a lot of fun and are excited to get back to music making with everyone this week!

To those of you that were not on the trip, thank you for working hard in our absence and getting things done. That being said, full rehearsal schedules are back in swing. This is the final term, so make an effort to be at every rehearsal and stay in practice mode for ALL of your ensembles. If you are away for ANY reason you must notify us by email, and make every effort to not book appointments during our scheduled rehearsal times. We have a LOT of incredible music to learn for our end of year concerts, let’s get to work!

VOCAL JAZZ FESTIVAL April 27 all permission forms and dinner money (pizza or sushi) must be in to me this week! This is a fantastic opportunity to work with outstanding performers and jazz educators, I expect ALL of you to have practiced while I was away and have everything sounding sharp for our rehearsals on Tuesday and Wednesday at lunch. You had a long weekend to practice, no excuses for wrong notes will be accepted. You either know the music, or you will not participate. Please note that everyone is invited to attend the concert that evening at Oak Bay High School, admission is by donation. The concert will feature a fantastic Vocal Jazz group from Washington and 3 high schools from around Victoria (we are one of them!). Please come and join us for an evening of jazz, and support these hard working students!

NO ORCHESTRA –  due to low numbers (not enough instrumentation) and the fact that many of the students that did join will be spread too thin, Mr. Davis and myself have decided to hold off on Orchestra this year. We have a lot of performances to cover and a lot of students that are already falling behind in practicing for their core ensembles so there will be no Thursday after school rehearsals any longer. The hope is that we can get orchestra back into Reynolds soon, but this time of year seemingly does not work for many of our students. Strings will therefore move back to Thursday at lunch, as Thursday after school did not work for a number of my students – plus with marching band coming up, we need to be flexible and ensure there are 2 rehearsals every week. Hopefully we can make it work next year!

Please add to your Calendar and prepare:
