Choir, Strings and MUSICAL Auditions week! Oct 1-5

Hello All,

Thank you to everyone that helped out at this year’s bottle drive for Cops For Cancer. I wish I could have been there but I was rehearsing the BCMEA Honour Vocal Jazz on Saturday. Congrats to Ross, John and Millie who were all selected to be a part of the provincial Honour Choir this year in Richmond, we are so proud of your dedication to Choral music!

A reminder if you have not picked up uniforms, check in with Mr. Davis about band uniforms and I will still collect money for Choral Binders ($20) and choir scarves ($20 deposit). Cheques can be made out to Reynolds Secondary.

Choir Students:Your deposit  ($50) and permission slip to attend the Comox Festival on November 16th are due by October 11th. Please get those into me as soon as possible so I can have a good estimate on numbers for our trip. Because there are musical auditions this week all after school Choir Rehearsals/Band rehearsals are cancelled, but please be on time for our morning rehearsals!

Musical Auditions! Starting tomorrow we will have musical auditions Monday-Thursday after school. Please show up in the theatre after school on the day you have signed up (still a few spots open if you aren’t signed up), you will fill out an informational sheet for me and begin your dance audition with our choreographer Kanika as a group. Then we will take pairs of students into the band room for vocal and script reading auditions -please keep your songs to about a minute as we have a lot of auditions to get through this week. We will cut you off if it’s too long – it’s not personal we just need to be timely for all the students waiting to audition and to our panel of teachers. I’m so looking forward to seeing your auditions, just be confident, come prepared and give it all you’ve got!

Vocal Jazz: Vocal Jazz results were posted on my door on Friday morning. If you are on this list – welcome to Vocal Jazz! This is an auditioned ensemble that meets Monday and Tuesday at lunch in Annex C (bring your lunch). Outside practice time will be required for this group and as usual any absences must be communicated to Ms. Kerr – yes, you can rotate with Jazz Band. Have a great week!
