I hope this finds you doing well! Ms. Kerr and I miss you and hope you are all healthy and safe. 🙂
Thank you to everyone that submitted parodies, lyrics, and memes as part of our Parody Contest! We are still going through submissions and will announce winners soon. We were blown away by your work and had quite a few laughs! Congratulations to you all!
Here’s challenge #2. It’s a twist on a classic Reynolds Music event and we are so excited to share that…
ON FRIDAY MAY 22nd at 7:00pm…
COFFEE NIGHT IS BACK!
(AND IT’S ON
That’s right! We are looking for video submissions of you making music for the first (and hopefully LAST…) ONLINE COFFEE NIGHT!
If you haven’t attended a live Coffee Night, it’s a wonderful event and unique to our school district (and it’s not your typical band/choir/strings concert, either). Students perform in small groups and perform solo numbers in a supportive (and caffeine-fueled) environment for their peers, parents, and teachers! Over the last three years we have had everything from folk numbers to solo-cello-numbers to rap to rock and jazz combos to a kazoo choir… almost every genre of music! Of course, there are covers of well-known songs but there are also some INCREDIBLE student-written songs and compositions.
We are issuing this challenge to all of our music students and hope you will consider submitting a video. You are in the driver’s seat for this one: YOU choose the style, YOU choose the tune, YOU choose to sing/play your instrument/submit something electronic!
The goal of this project is simple: and it’s an opportunity for our music community to come together (as best we can in these strange days) and showcase our incredible student musicians.
This project is optional. If submitting a video is not your thing, that is okay. We do hope that you will join us for this event and support our students. Parents, friends, relatives, are all welcome to join us!
A link to the project with detailed instructions can be found here: Reynolds Music Department Challenge #2 Coffee Night
We are asking for your submissions by Wednesday, May 20th so we can upload and test-run this event! Please note: a signed consent form is also required by this date.
Have fun and enjoy yourselves! As always, if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We would love to help.

Mr. Davis & Ms. Kerr
PS… Did I mention that the hippest new YouTube-ers on the World Wide Web will be hosting throughout the evening? We’ve got fresh downloads of Microsoft Internet Explorer v4.0, our modems are dialled up to 256k, and Ms.Kerr and I are ready to take the internet by storm.
