Updates for Concert Week for Choir and Strings!

Hello all,

Thank you for a great past few weeks of rehearsals in the Reynolds Music Program! I am so proud of our students and how far they have come this year. I am so excited to showcase what we have been working on the past few months in Choir and Strings land – we are nearly at the finish line!

A huge shout out to our amazing strings students that played so well at our school awards night on Thursday– it was a long night and I am so grateful to you for being a part of it. Congratulations to all of our award winners this year, your hard work and dedication is so appreciated!

Thank you to all of the students and parent volunteers that came out to our Sister Act BBQ celebration on Sunday! It was so great to see you and to watch the show together! Anyone that missed out please come and see me this week for your exclusive Sister Act Pin (cast, crew and pit band), made by the amazing Andrea de Lange- thank you! DVD’s of the show will be available next week for $20 after we edit through a bit more of the show. I will make out some order forms for the DVD and post them on the website tomorrow. Please get those in this week so I know how many to make. Thank you to Sam Walmsley-Byrne for editing the show and to Mr. Gray for helping us create the DVD version, you are so appreciated! Musical grads, all the best to you on your next chapter, you will be missed in our program!

CONCERT WEEK REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Choir and Strings Students it is Concert Week, please ensure you are organized and prepared for our rehearsal schedule this week! Please ensure you have found your blue scarf or tie to wear with your all black uniform for Wednesday’s concert. No short skirts or spaghetti straps, if you are wearing a dress please wear black tights and comfortable dress shoes that you can stand and move in.

-Monday, Mass Choir Rehearsal from 3:25-4:30 for ALL CHOIR STUDENTS, this is a mandatory rehearsal to do placement and rehearsal all together before the concert. We will need our percussionists to set up right after school. We will rehearse Bohemian Rhapsody, You Will Be Found and Let the River Run, please have those tunes close to memorized and ready to sing after school:)

-Tuesday, STRINGS rehearsal AT LUNCH please have Bohemian Rhapsody learned and reviewed, we will work on it at lunch to prepare for after school so have your instruments at school! STRINGS AND CHOIR DRESS REHEARSAL (no uniforms) after school at St. Dustan’s Church from 3:30-6:00. Please organize rides to the church after school, please ask to carpool with other parents. If ANY parents are available to drive students after school to the church please email me (kkerr@sd61.bc.ca) and we will shuttle kids over as quick as we can after school to 1806 San Juan Avenue. I will have pizza and drinks to keep us going after school, and if you are taking public transit please get there as soon as possible (about a 20 min bus ride, carpool if possible).

-Wednesday CHOIR AND STRINGS CONCERT DAYcall time is 6pm sharp at St. Dustan’s Church in your Uniform of all black with blue scarf or tie if you are in choir. Please have your Music Binders and instruments as needed. You are responsible for bringing everything you need, I would recommend a water bottle as well. Admission is by donation, first come first served seating. Let’s have a great night of music and show off all of your hard work these past few months!

After our concert there will be no more choir or strings rehearsals for the remainder of the year, good luck on all exams and end of the year celebrations! Thank you for a fantastic year of music at Reynolds, I am such a proud and grateful teacher! I hope to see you all back playing and singing again next year, all are welcome!

Updates for the Week:

3:25-4:30 MASS Choir Rehearsal, all Choir students will meet in the annex and run through our mass pieces together. Let’s do this!

11:17-12:12 Strings, ***this is a change*** we will have a lunch rehearsal in order to prepare for our Concert this week. Please meet in the annex to rehearse Bohemian Rhapsody. This will be our final rehearsal day, so make it count and come prepared!

3:30-6:00 CHOIR AND STRINGS DRESS REHEARSAL AT ST. DUNSTAN’S CHURCH (1806 San Juan Avenue). Students will meet after school to grab their instruments and music binders and head over to the church. We need parents to help with carpooling students over to the church to make it timely. We will eat pizza/drinks and do a full concert run through in this new venue. ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND THIS REHEARSAL, because it is a new venue students need to feel familiar with transitions and the sound of singing/playing in a new space for balance/blend/volume. Failure to attend may mean that a student can not perform in the concert. Please speak to me if there are any issues. Students will need to be picked up at 6 pm from the church, again carpooling is appreciated between parents.

7:30-8:20 Strings, we will see how we feel after the dress rehearsal but I will tentatively school one last run through and give you and extra 15 min of sleep in time for a 7:30 start:)

11:17-12:12 Vocal Jazz, let’s get prepared for Jazz Nite on June 25:)

CHOIR AND STRINGS CONCERT at St. Dunstan’s Church, call time is 6pm sharp (early is on time) in full uniform of all black dress clothes with a blue scarf or tie for choir students – PLEASE come prepared with your uniform, I do not have time to run around looking for extra uniform pieces for you, please bring all of your music and have it organized in your binder. Be prepared, be professional and show everyone all of your hard work! The concert starts at 7pm and doors will be open at 6:30pm, admission is by donation for all attending guests. Help with clean up is always appreciated at the end of the night! Thank you for supporting these amazing students and our music program!
